Action Burn Out

Well, my plan of action is failing. I tried to make it to the Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning launch without having to resort back to playing an MMO.

Call of Duty 4, Day of Defeat: Source, and Team Fortress 2 have kept me busy, but not busy enough. I am bored in most of them and it directly affects my performance, which was not great to begin with. My twitch FPS days are well past me now.

Oh, and Spore isn't here yet.

In reality there is only one MMO I would even consider and that is World of Warcraft. We'll have to see how I warm up to the idea over the next few days. I am not really sure I want to.

Maybe I'll just read some books instead. Yes, my wife would like to hear that.

  2. I just went XBOX 360. I kept thinking "ill pick one MMO" but honestly Im sick of them all right now, even WoW. stick it out man, dont do it because of boredom. Thats most of the reason half the people still play WoW anyway.

Why not play an MMO that will bore you to tears and make you grateful when WAR comes out? EQ and EVE come to mind . . . ;-P

Just bought a 360 a few weeks ago with the orange box. I've been playing nothing but RPGs for at least 6 solid months. Lost my mind to it played staright through Half Life 2 and then started right in on Ep 1. Spent several evenings getting my ass kicked at TF 2 (hot damn do I suck...but I'm getting better). Was utterly delighted by Portal.

Then a funny thing happened. After about two weeks of obsessing on the Orange Box it, my MMO of choice became wildly entertaining again. I haven't picked up the 360 controller all week, and I'm finding it frustrating that I don't have time to get to everything I want to in game. I've played until I could no longer remain awake for three evenings in a row now.

Playing action games makes MMOs fresh it seems.

You sound just like me. I was praying for an August open beta and now I'm giving AoC a go in order to tide me over.
Hey, does your wife know mine? She gives me that same line all the time!

Same here to be honest - I've just purchased EQ2 to give that a crack because i'm fed up of WoW (been reduced to levelling another 3 characters to 70 out of needing to do 'something' MMO related), so hopefully EQ2 will keep me busy for a period of time, we'll have to see, but i'm only doing it because I need entertainment.

It's that point where you WANT to be doing something 'new'. The only thing that's new and really looking exciting is WAR, at least for me, and the bugger isn't in my lap yet :<
